UFC 295 Results

Madison Square Garden hosted one of the craziest events of the year as UFC 295 saw; some quick finishes, excellent fights, a new Interim Heavyweight champion, and a new undisputed Light Heavyweight champion. With all the fights that occurred in the Octagon, here are the results as to what happened at UFC 295 on this exciting fight card.

 

Early Prelims

Dennis Buzukja vs Jamall Emmers (Featherweight bout) – Emmers wins via TKO (R1, 0:49).

Despite missing weight by one pound, Emmers proved he could get the job done and did it quick with a first-round TKO win in just 49 seconds. A quick and fantastic way to start the event.

 

Joshua Van vs Kevin Borjas (Flyweight bout) – Van wins via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Joshua Van and Kevin Borjas gave it their all in a three-round war as 'The Fearless' would get the judges votes with a Unanimous Decision victory. Van climbs closer to the UFC Flyweight rankings. 

 

John Castaneda vs Kang Kyung-ho (Bantamweight bout) – Castaneda wins via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

John Castaneda impressed the New York crowd with convincing Decision win over Kang Kyung-ho. There is no question that he would like to rise closer towards Bantamweight rankings.

 

Jared Gordon vs Mark Masden (Lightweight bout) – Gordon wins via TKO (R1, 4:42).

Jared Gordon finally gets back to winning ways after showing an outstanding performance to end the Early Prelims with a terrific first-round TKO victory. A redeeming career for 'Flash' Gordon.

 

Preliminary Card

Nazim Sadykhov vs Viacheslav Borschev (Lightweight bout) – Fight ends via Majority Draw (29-28, 28-28, 28-29).

After an eye-catching fight for the crowd of Madison Square Garden, the fight ends in a draw after a three-round war. A rematch is always possible to happen and if it did occur, it would not disappoint.

 

Mateusz Rebecki vs Roosevelt Roberts (Lightweight bout) – Rebecki wins via Armbar (R1, 3:08).

Mateusz Rebecki increases his winning streak to 16 after getting a Verbal Submission victory with an Armbar, despite Roberts fighting on short notice. 'Chinczyk' is becoming an unmissable fighter to watch.

 

Tabatha Ricci vs Lupita Godinez (Strawweight bout) – Godinez wins via Split Decision (27-30, 29-28, 29-28).

Lupita Godinez will raise up the UFC Strawweight rankings after defeating #10 contender, Tabatha Ricci, and puts the weight division on notice. Loopy wins her fourth fight of the year making her the second woman in UFC history to win four fights in a year.

 

Steve Erceg vs Alessandro Costa (Flyweight bout) – Erceg wins via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Steve Erceg wins in Madison Square Garden by Unanimous Decision, despite the fact that the fight was very close between the Australian and Alessandro Costa. 'Astro Boy' will look to fight a very recognisable fighter in the Flyweight division.

 

Main Card

Diego Lopes vs Pat Sabatini (Featherweight bout) – Lopes wins via KO (R1, 1:30).

Diego Lopes has got the Featherweight division keeping an eye on him after an incredible knockout victory against Pat Sabatini. With just three fights in the UFC, he is showcasing true potential.

 

Matt Frevola vs Benoit Saint-Denis (Lightweight bout) – Saint-Denis wins via KO (R1, 1:31).

Benoit Saint-Denis makes France proud after earning an extraordinary knockout victory against #14 Lightweight contender, Matt Frevola. Now that the 'God of War' is in the Lightweight rankings, he will be full of confidence to face his next challenge.

 

Jessica Andrade vs Mackenzie Dern (Strawweight bout) – Andrade wins via TKO (R2, 3:15).

Jessica Andrade puts on one of her best performances at UFC 295, securing a second-round TKO win and possibly putting her up for a title shot against Zhang Weili. The Brazilian fighter will maintain her #5 Strawweight contender spot. 

 

Sergei Pavlovich vs Tom Aspinall (Interim Heavyweight title bout) – Aspinall wins via KO (R1, 1:09).

Tom Aspinall is crowned the Interim UFC Heavyweight champion and has earned the biggest win of his entire career. He will be guaranteed to fight the winner of either Jon Jones or Stipe Miocic as he has the greatest opportunity now to become King of the Heavyweights. 

 

Jiri Prochazka vs Alex Pereira (Vacant Light Heavyweight title bout) – Pereira wins via KO (R2, 4:08).

Alex Pereira is the new UFC Light Heavyweight champion after knocking out Jiri Prochazka with a left-hook followed by some elbows. Poatan becomes the ninth fighter to become a two-division champion in UFC history with him previously holding the Middleweight belt and now the Light Heavyweight title. Questions will circle around the MMA community of who the new champion will face next to defend the 205-pound championship.
