Francis Ngannous Round 1 Knockout meant a lot more than being the PFL Super Fights heavyweight world champion

The main event of the PFL Super Fights concluded the night with a first round knockout to Francis Ngannou. The Cameroonian knocked out Ferreira with 1minute 28 seconds of the fight remaining, the relentless punches from Ngannou forced the referee to end the fight giving him the win in his first match since January 2022.

In a fight that was billed as the 'Battle of the Giants' it very much displayed a one sided affair! The fight can be watched via the link below:

However an emotional Francis Ngannou took to the stage in his post fight interview where he dedicated to win to his son who passed away in April aged 15 months.

When asked how he felt following the fight he responded with this:

“I don’t know,’’. “I just can’t think about anything. That my son Kobe, you know…’’

“I hope they can remember his name, because without Kobe we wouldn’t be here tonight,’’ Ngannou said with tears in his eyes. “I wouldn’t have (fought).”

It is very much documented that pre fight Cristiano Ronaldo related to the tragic loss of his son with the one of his own during childbirth in 2022.

Ngannou's coach had this to say:

“Then, at one point, Francis got up to wrap his hands, and Ronaldo was kind of talking about how he could feel Francis’s energy. And he goes: ‘I’m just going to give him words of encouragement…

“He was talking about the loss of one of his children and kind of how he related to that, and things like that. It was kind of cool. I know how big of a star he is, but sitting next to me and having this very personal conversation made him feel like he was part of the team – right then and there.'

The long awaited return of the fighter came under very upsetting circumstances and the future of his fighting career is still uncertain.

The history maker made his record 18-3 whilst increasing his first round knockouts to 10.
