UFC Kansas City brought delight to Missouri as an excellent fight night delivered at the T-Mobile Center. Here is everything that happened in this action-packed fight card.
preliminary card
It all started off with Joselyne Edwards stopping Chelsea Chandler by TKO in the first round after some wild and brutal strikes to the head. La Pantera will be in the Women's Bantamweight rankings after that glorious win.
Timothy Cuamba continued the stoppage frenzy with a second-round TKO win after a vicious flying knee was followed with some ground strikes, securing his first UFC triumph.
Jacqueline Amorim increased her winning streak to four and maintained her 100% finish rate after submitting Polyana Viana with a Rear-Naked Choke in round two. A big prospect for the Women's Strawweight division.
Malcolm Wellmaker could not have had a better UFC debut as a wicked right-hook knocked Cameron Saaiman out in the first round, keeping his undefeated record at the same time.
Despite being known as a dangerous grappler, Da'Mon Blackshear impressed the Kansas City on the feet as he went the distance with Alatengheili to win by unanimous decision.
In a close, contested fight, Chris Gutierrez did just enough to earn a split decision win over John Castaneda as he was more active with his strikes, despite being wrestled to the ground on numerous occasions.
Evan Elder succeeded in his fifth UFC bout, winning by unanimous decision against Gauge Young and increasing his winning streak to three.
The featured prelim was rather exciting to watch as Matt Schnell and Jimmy Flick went to the judges scorecards with the Amory-born fighter winning by unanimous decision, although both men were very close to winning by submission.
main card
The main card kicked off with a redeeming win for Ikram Aliskerov as he stopped Andre Muniz in the nick of time to win by first-round TKO. A great way to get back in the win column after a devastating knockout loss to Robert Whittaker in his previous bout.
Randy Brown and Nicolas Dalby went into a stunning war as both men hurt each other multiple times, while both earning a knockdown, but the Jamaican managed to get the knockout in round two after viciously trading with the Dane.
Abus Magomedov looks to have entered the Middleweight rankings after showing class both on the feet and ground to win by unanimous decision against the #14 contender, Michel Pereira.
David Onama had to rely on grappling to win the fight as Giga Chikadze's strong suit was keeping the battle on the feet as the Ugandan did enough to win by unanimous decision whilst also entering the Featherweight rankings.
Zhang Mingyang shined with another first-round finish as he stopped Anthony Smith by TKO, retiring the UFC veteran as Lionheart ended his 60-fight MMA career after dropping out the Light Heavyweight rankings.
Ian Machado Garry went back to winning ways after going the distance to win by unanimous decision against Carlos Prates. The Future timed his strikes and takedowns well in the first four rounds before almost getting finish by TKO in the fifth round as the Brazilian did not have enough in him to stop the fight.
The UFC will travel to Iowa as the Wells Fargo Arena has the pleasure of hosting a fight night with the headliner being a Bantamweight battle between the #4 contender, Cory Sandhagen, and the #5 contender, Deiveson Figueiredo.
