Chris Eubank vs Nigel Benn provided one of the biggest British Boxing rivalries, as well as the mist incredible battles. This time, the family feud continued with the younger generation as Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn exchanged punches in an epic 12-round war.
The fight was originally set at the O2 Arena back in October 2022 as of course, two of the biggest names in Boxing would attract the eye of the fans. However, the bout was cancelled due to Benn failing a drug test, leading the bout to being postponed with the Boxing community unknown when the battle may occur.
In many cases, it was probably for the best as the build up and trash talking would soon escalate when their next bout was scheduled.
After Eubank Jr's IBO World Middleweight title win in Riyadh, with a seventh-round TKO over Kamil Szeremeta, he would find himself face-to-face with none other than Benn himself as he attended the event.
Just as it was looking promising that the fight was going to happen, Benn was cleared to fight in the UK after failing his drug test from the original bout, as the National Ant-Doping Panel (NADP) lifted the ban.
Once the contracts were signed, it was confirmed on 23rd January that Eubank Jr and Benn would finally meet each other in the ring at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The heated boxing match would become heavily anticipating after the continuous trash talk, and an egg smashed against Benn's face, really put this fight to be one of the biggest in the year, maybe even in the current decade.
The event could not be any more perfect as both Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Sr walked out with their sons to the ring, while having a perfect seat in front of the action.
The Middleweight bout was thought to end in a stoppage as Benn was a natural Welterweight boxer, risking his undefeated record while moving up two weight classes. Especially since Eubank Jr is an experienced Middleweight boxer and would have the advantage, making a lot of people think he would win by knockout.
The 12-round battle did not disappoint as both men went the distance after exchanging multiple punches, while both being hurt and exhausted on several occasions.
The fight was a very close contest as their were times that both Eubank Jr and Benn could have been knocked down as they showed that they could absorb the most powerful of punches.
The pace of the fight would be non-stop and both warriors left everything in the ring as by the time round 12 ended, every spectator applauded and showed their respect to the two rivals.
All three scorecards read 116-112 with Eubank Jr winning by unanimous decision as the Eubanks keep the crown in the family feud.
There was plenty of respect for the winner of the main event, but a lot of credit and respect was shown to Benn who had to defy the odds by moving up two weight classes and go the distance. Eubank Sr was one of many that shared his respect to Benn as they both acknowledge each other after a gruelling fight,
The battle is over, but the rivalry may not be finished yet as after the brawl ended in a very close match, Benn is enthusiastic to face Eubank Jr in a rematch as he will want to avenge his only professional loss in Boxing.
