UFC 315 put on a show for Canadian fans as spectators of the Bell Centre witnessed some sublime submissions, showstopping knockouts, and intriguing battles. Here is everything that happened in this wild PPV event.

early prelims

Brad Katona vs Bekzat Almakhan (Bantamweight Bout) - Almakhan wins via KO (R1, 1:04).

Almakhan made quick work of Katona to earn his redemption as he claims his first win in the UFC in enemy territory. The Kazakh fighter timed his uppercut to perfection as Katona prepared to change levels and as soon as he was knocked down, it was clear that the fight had to come to a stop. With such a quick victory after previously facing a title challenger, you would think Almakhan is not far off from a position in the Bantamweight rankings.

Daniel Santos vs Lee Jeong Yeong (Featherweight Bout) - Santos wins via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

In a rather thrilling three-round war, Santos pulled off a very convincing win as he went the distance with Jeong Yeong to win by unanimous decision. The first round saw both men stun each other on the feet, exchanging powerful punches, but the Brazilian's wrestling proved to be a problem for the Korean as it helped Santos pick up the victory. Willycat is now on a three-fight winning streak and after such an impressive performance, he will look forward to his next challenge at Featherweight.

Marc-Andre Barriault vs Bruno Silva (Middleweight Bout) - Barriault wins via KO (R1, 1:27).

Barriault snapped his three-fight winning streak with a terrific first-round knockout victory over Silva. Powerbar soon clinched with the Brazilian against the cage, which would be the beginning of the end as some punishing elbows from the Canadian left Silva out cold. With a career-saving triumph, Barriault will hope to start a win streak and make a significant rise in the organisation after a spectacular stoppage win.

preliminary card

Navajo Stirling vs Ivan Erslan (Light Heavyweight Bout) - Stirling wins via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-27).

Stirling earns his second consecutive unanimous decision win after defeating Erslan to maintain his undefeated record in MMA. The Australian grappled in round two before stunning the Croatian and knocking him down in the third to secure a positive decision from the judges scorecards. The New Zealand fighter could be a promising prospect in the Light Heavyweight division as a first stoppage win in the UFC will certainly catch attention from fans.

Modestas Bukauskas vs Ion Cutelaba (Light Heavyweight Bout) - Bukauskas wins via Split Decision (30-27, 29-28, 27-30).

Despite some bizarre scorecards being read aloud, Bukauskas hand was raised with a split decision triumph, despite many believing Cutelaba had done enough to seal the victory. Both men kept the battle on the feet, looking for a possible knockout but the fight went the distance as the Lithuanian's powerful punches may have done enough to convince the judges. The Baltic Warrior is now on a three-fight winning streak and could just be one or two victories away from contesting in the 205-pound rankings.

Jessica Andrade vs Jasmine Jasudavicius (Women's Flyweight Bout) - Jasudavicius wins via Rear-Naked Choke (R1, 2:40).

Jasudavicius made quick work of Andrade as she scores her third submission win in the UFC and increases her winning streak to five. The Canadian just had to takedown Bate Estaca once before gradually locking in a Rear-Naked Choke as Andrade had no choice but to tap out. The #9 Flyweight contender will most likely enter the top five after such a flawless performance as she could just be one fight away from a title shot.

Mike Malott vs Charles Radtke (Welterweight Bout) - Malott wins via KO (R1, 0:26).

Malott began his triumphant streak in style after knocking out Radtke in the second round to please his home fans once again. Both men had a rather close, contested battle in the first round, but a vicious left hook and some follow up shots in round two would give Proper his third win in a UFC PPV event. The Canadian will be hoping to get another shot at earning a place in the Welterweight rankings, since his loss against Neil Magny, as he makes a second rise in the organisation.

main card

Benoit Saint-Denis vs Kyle Prepolec (Lightweight Bout) - Saint-Denis wins via Arm Triangle (R2, 2:35).

Saint-Denis snapped his two-fight losing streak with a submission win against Prepolec, keeping his 100% finish rate in MMA. The God of War dominated in the first round with his wrestling, and after some interesting striking exchanges in the second, the Frenchman was able to put Prepolec back on the ground and lock in an Arm Triangle Choke. The #13 Lightweight contender will be hoping to battle a ranked opponent in his next bout and return to his original spot in the Lightweight division.

Alexa Grasso vs Natalia Silva (Women's Flyweight Bout) - Silva wins via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

Silva put on an incredible striking display to go the distance with Grasso and win very convincingly by unanimous decision. The Brazilian's fighting style seemed to make the difference in this battle as she worked out the distance early in the fight to defeat the former champion and extend her win streak to 13. The #5 Flyweight contender is in strong title contention and will be protesting if she does not get her shot for the 125-pound belt next.

Jose Aldo vs Aiemann Zahabi (Featherweight Bout) - Zahabi wins via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

A wicked brawl saw Zahabi overcome the odds and defeat Aldo by unanimous decision after such a close battle. Both men exchanged strikes in rounds one and two before Aldo remarkably stunned the Canadian on multiple occasions in the third, but after tiring himself out, Zahabi took advantage of it as he almost finished the former UFC Featherweight Champion with a nasty ground and pound. The #15 Bantamweight contender may possibly move up the rankings, but due to the change of weight in this bout, it is unsure what the aftermath will be of this fight.

Valentina Shevchenko vs Manon Fiorot (Women's Flyweight Title Bout) - Shevchenko wins via Unanimous Decision (48-47, 48-47, 48-47).

Shevchenko succeeds in her first title defence of her second reign as champion after going to the judges scorecards with Fiorot in a razor close fight. The Bullet dealt damage early as Fiorot's nose bled, impacting her breathing and cardio for the fight, but despite that, both women challenged each other on the feet and ground with Shevchenko having the more effective and impactful moments in the battle which allowed her to pick up the win. The Queen of the Flyweights is only one title win away from Amanda Nunes' record of 11 title victories as she continues to show that she can be the G.O.A.T of women's MMA.

Belal Muhammad vs Jack Della Maddalena (Welterweight Title Bout) - Della Maddalena wins via Unanimous Decision (48-47, 48-47, 49-46).

Della Maddalena earns the biggest and best triumph of his entire MMA career as an impressive striking display helps beat Muhammad to become the new UFC Welterweight Champion. The Australian combatted Muhammad's game plan as he applied pressure as much as possible, while defending almost every takedown to avoid fighting the Palestinian's strong point as Della Maddalena left the champion bloody after five gruelling rounds. This fight was likely to decide who will be the next title challenger as Islam Makhachev wants to prepare for 170-pounds, but JDM will be more than prepared after putting on an outstanding performance in Montreal.
