UFC Vegas 106 certainly gave MMA fans what they wanted as plenty of knockout and submission wins were provided in another incredible fight night. Here is what happened at the APEX.

preliminary card

The event started off with Tecia Pennington picking up back-to-back unanimous decision wins after defeating Luana Pinheiro to stay at #13 in the Strawweight rankings.

Park Hyung Sung kept his undefeated record, increasing it to 10 wins after submitting Carlos Hernandez with a Rear-Naked Choke in the first round and making him an eye-catcher in the Flyweight division.

The first knockout of the night came from Denise Gomes who stopped Elise Reed some thunderous strikes in the beginning of the second round, potentially leading her to fight for a place in the Strawweight rankings in her next battle.

Luana Santos pulled off one of the most unique submissions to earn redemption after stopping Tainara Lisboa with an Americana/Keylock right at last second of round two.

Yadier Del Valle shined on his UFC debut with a victory over Connor Matthews, submitting the Massachusetts fighter with a Rear-Naked Choke.

There is a reason why Jared Gordon is nicknamed Flash as a quick and powerful right hand sent Thiago Moises crashing down to the canvas. A remarkable first-round knockout win which was surprisingly not given Performance of the Night.

Gabe Green continued the streak of stoppage wins in the featured prelim as after more than two years of no action in the Octagon, Gifted submitted Matheus Camilo with a Rear-Naked Choke in the second round, his first win since April 2022.

main card

Despite the finishes streak ending in the main card, it did kick off with a slugfest between Julian Erosa and Melquizael Costa who put on an extraordinary striking battle for three rounds which saw the Brazilian triumph, earning his fourth consecutive victory and third win of 2025.

Nursulton Ruziboev surprisingly went the distance, which is a rarity for the Uzbekistan fighter, as he claimed an unanimous decision win over Dustin Stoltzfus to start a winning streak.

The Co-Main Event was originally meant to be Rodolfo Bellato vs Paul Craig, however, the bout was cancelled at the last minute due to a medical issue. The Middleweight fight is looking to be rescheduled for the next APEX events or UFC PPV.

Mairon Santos was able to defeat former Featherweight contender, Sodiq Yusuff, after going to the judges scorecards to win by unanimous decision as his striking proved no match for the Nigerian and his victory could put him close to the 145-pound rankings.

The headliner did not need five rounds, or even two rounds as Michael Morales delivered the biggest win of his career after stopping Gilbert Burns by TKO in the first round. The Ecuadorian will raise up to the top 10 in the Welterweight rankings and depending on his next opponent, he could soon be in title contention as he looks like a future championship challenger.

The next UFC event will take place at the APEX once again in two weeks time which sees a Women's Flyweight Main Event between the #4 contender, Erin Blanchfield, and the #5 contender, Maycee Barber.
