UFC Nashville is back since August 2023 as an action-packed fight night awaits. The headliner sees a Heavyweight clash between the #9 contender, Derrick Lewis, and the #13 contender, Tallison Teixeira. Here is everything you need to know before the show commences at the Bridgestone Arena.
Lewis last fought over a year ago when he knocked out Rodrigo Nascimento in round three at UFC St Louis, keeping himself in the top 10 of the Heavyweight division.
The Black Beast holds prestigious victories over the likes of Alexander Volkov, Curtis Blaydes and Francis Ngannou.
The Louisiana-born fighter holds the record for most knockout wins in UFC history (14) as well as having a total of 23 KO/TKO wins in his MMA career.
The #9 contender will be hoping to keep his place inside the top 10 rankings and become the first man to defeat his opponent.
Teixeira made his UFC debut in his last bout where he knocked out Justin Tafa in just 35 seconds at UFC 312, making him a dangerous prospect in the organisation.
The Brazilian made his way into the UFC through Dana White's Contender Series (DWCS) after knocking out Arthur Lopes in round one,
Undefeated with eight victories, Xicao has a 100% finish rate with 8 knockouts and one submission, with all of those triumphs ending in the first round.
The #13 contender made a scary introduction into the UFC, and now he looks to take out an experienced fighter and fan-favourite of the organisation.
other fights you should look out for
Stephen Thompson vs Gabriel Bonfim - (Welterweight Bout) - Thompson lost his last battle after suffering a third-round knockout loss to Joaquin Buckley at UFC 307. Out of his 17 victories in his MMA career, Wonderboy has won eight of his fights by KO/TKO. The #12 contender has only won one in his last five fights as he tries to pick out redemption in Nashville.
Bonfim began his winning streak at UFC Vegas 102 after submitting Khaos Williams late in round two. The Brazilian has only gone the distance once in his career, stopping three of his enemies by KO/TKO and 13 by submission. Marretinha has a great chance to enter the Welterweight rankings as this could be the only opportunity he gets, depending on the aftermath of the fight.
Calvin Kattar vs Steve Garcia - (Featherweight Bout) - Kattar is currently on a four-fight losing streak after a defeat to Youssef Zalal by unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 102. The Methuen-born fighter has stopped 13 of his 23 conquered opponents, 11 by KO/TKO and two by submission. Another loss for the #14 contender and he could be cut from the UFC as he has to make the most of this chance to redeem himself.
Garcia made it five consecutive knockout wins-in-a-row after stopping Kyle Nelson in the first round at UFC Vegas 97. With 17 wins, the Mean Machine has won 14 of those by KO/TKO as he is deadly on the feet. The New Mexico mixed martial artist will be hoping to take his chance of entering the Featherweight rankings as another knockout win will be a huge statement for the 145-pound prospect.
Kennedy Nzechukwu vs Valter Walker (Heavyweight Bout) - Nzechukwu continued his Heavyweight journey with a first-round knockout win over Lukasz Brzeski at UFC 310. The African Savage is nothing but a knockout artist with 10 of his 14 triumphs ending by KO/TKO. The Nigerian seems to be very close to the rankings as another first-round finish would surely secure a spot in the top 15.
Walker made it two consecutive first-round submission wins after stopping Don'Tale Mayes at UFC Vegas 102. The Clean Machine has not been stopped yet and holds nine finishes in his MMA career, six by KO/TKO and three by submission. Just like his opponent, another first-round stoppage win should earn him a place in the Heavyweight rankings.
