The draw has been made for the 2024 World Seniors Darts Matchplay, as the legendary Phil Taylor will look to end his career on a high with a final Matchplay title, this time at the York Barbican.
Taylor, who has 16 PDC World Matchplay titles to his name at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, has been handed perhaps the toughest first round draw possible, facing off against current PDC tour card holder and reigning WSDT World Champion, 'The Highlander' John Henderson.
Defending champion Gates, who defeated Jim McEwan in last year's final, will have to get past James Richardson in the first round if the Soulger is wanting to retain his crown.
Opening the tournament will be World Number One Richie Howson, still chasing that elusive first major title win on the WSDT, has been drawn against Trina Gulliver.
And it's two opposite ends of the tournament bracket that we see perhaps the two biggest ties of the first round. In Quarter 3, former two time World Champion Robert Thornton faces off against John Part, whilst in Quarter 2, the number 5 seed Kevin Painter will play Canadian David Cameron.
The 2024 World Seniors Darts Tour Matchplay will take place between the 4th and 5th of October at the York Barbican.
