Day 1 of the Dutch Darts masters
What an opener that was, 8 quality PDC regulars against 8 quality Dutch Internationals. What more could you want? The majority of the games looked very predictable on paper however the Dutch had something to say about that. Jonny Clayton, Fallon Sherrock, Gerwyn Price, Michael Smith and Peter Wright were all knocked out against a Dutch opponents in the last 16. Even Michael Van Gerwen was defeated by fellow World Cup playing Dutchman Danny Noppert.

Both World Cup of Darts finalists Clayton and Price took it right to the last leg but were eliminated in the first round, Clayton just out did his opponent in terms of having a bigger average but he let himself down in terms of finishes. On the other hand his World Cup partner Gerwyn Price had a lower average of (91.63) in comparison to his opponent Van Der Voorts average of (96.07). Neither of the Welshmen were on their ‘A game’ yesterday and I can only believe that the Dutch atmosphere may have had something to do with that.
James Wade was the only successful British player yesterday to get through to the quarters. With Sherrock, Wright and Smith also losing. Wade performed a lot better than he did in his disappointing World Cup semi final loss against Australia pushing Jeffrey De Zwaan aside in the third game of the tournament.
With only 2 of the PDC players remaining an exciting affair is expected. Let’s see who is playing who for the rest of the games in the Dutch Darts Masters tonight…

Final
Kleermaker took out some incredible high finishes at the end of his bout with Michael Smith last night and he is most definitely one to watch tonight, however he doesn't have an easy route to the final in the slightest .He isn’t favourite against Van Duijvenbode but if I had to predict an underdog to win the tournament it would be Kleermaker after yesterday's terrific display.
However if I had to pick a winner I have a feeling it will be Danny Noppert who will win the Dutch Darts Masters tonight. What's everyone else’s predictions?
