Manchester City VS Arsenal Preview 26/04/2023

Published on 25 April 2023 at 20:00

The 2022/23 Premier League season is starting to heat up with two sides who have just five points between them; with Arsenal recently dropping poor performances and dropping points to teams like Southampton and West Ham and Manchester City closing the gap to just five points with two games in hand on the leaders following relentless performances Leicester City and Southampton.

Let's start with the boys in blue. The citizens have been the bench mark of the Premier League in recent years, winning the Premier League a total six times out of the last ten seasons. With manager Pep Guadiorla’s dominant style of football it’s no surprise that City are head and shoulders above the rest.

This year however City aren’t as dominant as they have been in previous years, currently sitting in second. With the big news that one of the best footballing youngsters, Erling Haaland would be joining at the start of the current season, a lot of football fans will have predicted that league would be over and done with by now. The Norwegian striker may currently have 32 goals in the Premier League but its Citys defensive problems that are letting them down. With reported fall outs with key defenders such as; Kyle Walker, Joao Cancelo and Aymeric Laporte, Pep has been forced to make a makeshift defence which has only recently started to work.

Now onto Arsenal, the Gunners led by once assistant to Pep, Mikel Arteta. However, unlike City, Arsenal are currently going through a rebuild progress following a poor couple years under former management. The former Arsenal player, has introduced youth to the football team with the likes of Bukayo Saka and Eddie Nketiah playing a big part in the clubs recent success and giving them an unexpected title charge.

With the North London side having a busy transfer window even the home supporters might be uncertain on how this team will perform out on the pitch tonight. With huge names coming in such as Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko both signing from Wednesday nights opposition, both providing much needed Premier League winning experience to Mikel Arteta’s side
