Premier League TOTS

Even though the season is not finished just yet, it is fair to say that many players in the Premier League have had amazing individual seasons, and with that in mind, I will be showing you my 2022/23 Premier League Team of the Season.

With the title, relegation, and European places still up for grabs, everyone involved will be doing everything they can to ensure their team's get over the line come the end of the season.

My ‘Team Of The Season’ will layout in a formation 4-1-2-1-2, thus allowing a more defensive midfielder and an attack minded midfielder.

Goalkeeper:

Alisson Becker.

For me the goalkeeping spot was between Newcastle’s Nick Pope and Allison. The Liverpool man just pips the England international due to his constant stand out performances in a Liverpool shirt. Pope has been class again this season but Newcastle defensively as a whole have been strong whereas Liverpool haven’t been at their best this season meaning Allison has had to be on top of his game all season.

Right Back:

Kieran Trippier

Going back to Newcastle’s defensive performance’s this season, Trippier has played a key part in Newcastle’s recent success since arriving last season. The England international has been instrumental defensively and attackingly this season creating so many chances for the magpies but also getting back and defending their goal from any threat. For me Tripps is a no brainer.

Centre back:

William Saliba

Watching the Gunners play with and without the Frenchman, the difference is frightening. Arsenal have looked organised when Saliba partners Gabriel at the back but since Saliba’s injury they look a bit lost, dropping some really poor performances and vital points.

 Centre Back:

John Stones

With there being so many good centre backs to choose from this season the second centre back spot was a difficult choice for me. For me John Stones has just piped the others to get the spot in my team following such a consistent second half of the season.

Left Back:

Nathan Ake

You could argue against the Dutchman given Guardiola's constant team. Although there was a fairly small field of left back candidates, I had to choose Ake because of the incredible job he has done this year.

Defensive Midfielder:

Casemiro

With Scott McTominay, Fred, and an ageing Nemanja Matic as their defensive midfield options for several seasons, Casemiro's arrival has completely changed Manchester United's performances from the start. The short-term investment Casemiro made to get Manchester United back near the top of the Premier League pyramid has been worth every penny paid.

Attacking Midfielder

Kevin De Bruyne

There should be no doubt that no other player on the planet can consistently do what Kevin De Bruyne does year after year. With 7 goals and 16 assists, the Belgian maestro has shown no signs of slowing down over the years and definitely hasn’t slowed down at all this season.

Right Wing:

Mohammed Salah

Once again Liverpool are not having a good season by their standards but Salah is one of the very few stand out stars during this season. For me Salah is still one of the best, scored 30 goals in all competitions this season but because Haaland doesn’t stop scoring it is overlooked.

Left Wing:

Marcus Rashford

The England international has reminded us all of what his hype was all about this season, after what appeared to be a mediocre static phase of his career. With 21 Premier League goals and games still to play, it was difficult not to select him on the left side of attack.

Strikers:

Harry Kane and Erling Haaland

A team of the season without the record-breaking goal scorer would be absolutely ludicrous, the Norwegian superstar has shocked the world this season.  After scoring 35 goals already in the Premier League he is going to be my first choice.

For me, his striking partner has to be Harry Kane; it was clear that his season would fly under the radar with the Manchester City player hitting an absurd number of goals. However, with 26 goals, England's leading scorer is the only attacking partner Haaland should be alongside in my opinion for the squad of the season.
