Leicester City vs Liverpool Preview

Published on 15 May 2023 at 13:00

Today lines up a battle with two sides at the opposing sides of the table. With Liverpool wanting to sneak in to a Champions League spot and Leicester wanting to sneak out of the relegation spots - both teams will be desperate to get those vital three points today.

Lets take a look at both of tonight's sides,,,

Leicester City

19th placed Leicester City haven't had a great season to say the least, after losing a total of 21 games the former Premier League champions have got themselves into a relegation scrap and face a strong Liverpool side in great form in an attempt to get out of it.

Current form:

L D D W L

After a staggering 5-3 loss at Craven Cottage Leicester City's situation has worsened, however presumably their attempt to fight back against Fulham will be a very slim sight of positivity for Dean Smith. Although there was some improvement in the final third in the previous game, they're still leaking goals. With Leicester still without a clean sheet since the World Cup I struggle to see them not conceding against an in form Liverpool side. However it will be interesting to see whether they show enough fight to get something out of a difficult fixture at a difficult time.

Leicester City's injury list:

Kelechi Iheanacho

James Justin

Jannik Vestergaard

Ryan Bertrand

Predicted Line up:

Iversen; Pereira, Faes, Soyuncu, Castagne; Ndidi, Dewsbury-Hall; Soumare Maddison, Barnes; Vardy

Liverpool

5th place Liverpool go in to their penultimate away game against Leicester City tonight and it is vital they get three points if they want to get themselves a Champions League spot next season. They're currently four points behind Newcastle United and Manchester United (who are stopping them getting into the top four spots) and a win tonight can help them get to where they want to be.

Current form:

W W W W W

After winning six on the trot Liverpool will be feeling confident ahead of tonight's game, other than the 6-1 thrashing that they gave to Leeds United every other result has been a narrow one. Since the game against the Yorkshire side Liverpool have only won by a one goal deficit and with Leicester's poor defensive record they will be looking to capitalise on this. Tonight will be a very interesting game and a must win for both sides - for very different reasons.

Liverpool's Injury list:

Thiago Alcantara

Stefan Bajcetic

Calvin Ramsey

Naby Keita

Roberto Firmino

Predicted line up:

Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Jones, Fabinho, Henderson; Salah, Gakpo, Diaz

Harry Lucas
