Manchester City vs Real Madrid Preview

Thanks to a Kevin De Bruyne’s strike late on in the first leg it will be all to play for at the Etihad on Wednesday night. Many people believe that Madrid will be on the flight to Istanbul on their way to retaining their Champions League crown down to their dominance in the competition over the last 10 years. Real Madrid allowed the citizens to have more of the ball last time out which in the end went against them. The two sides last met in last years Champions League semi final which Madrid’s late comeback sent the sky blues packing.
"We've learned so much since last year," Grealish told BT Sport.
"We have a new team this year, different players. It's a year ago. We have the perfect balance of experience and world-class youngsters. I've never felt so confident going onto the pitch having the players around me."
Last season, City led Real Madrid by two goals on aggregate entering the 90th minute of the second leg, but crumbled spectacularly.
Rodrygo scored twice in extra time, and Karim Benzema converted an extra-time penalty to give Spanish side a 6-5 aggregate victory.
Thibaut Courtois of Real feels the defending champions cannot be discounted.
In this season's campaign, they have already beaten Liverpool and Chelsea with ease away from home.
"Next week will be like a final, and we are quite good at winning finals," said the Belgian. "Hopefully we can mentalise it like that even though it is at City and it will be tough for us."
Real have progressed from just two of their nine Champions League knockout stage ties when failing to win the first leg at home - both of these were against Manchester United (1999-00 and 2012-13).
Whereas City has advanced to the next round of European knockout matches in both of their previous encounters that ended in 1-1 away draws in the first leg.
With both teams resting key players at the weekend, I believe teams will line-up as follows
Manchester City:
4-3-3
Ederson,
Walker, Stones, Dias, Akanji,
De Bruyne, Silva, Rodri
Mahrez Haaland, Grealish
Real Madrid:
4-3-3
Courtois,
Carvajal, Militao, Rudiger, Alaba,
Modric, Kroos, Valverde
Rodrygo, Benzema, Vinicious Jr
My Prediction: 2-1 (3-2 agg) Manchester City
Leading to an Inter Milan vs Manchester City Final in Istanbul
