The Formula One triple header has officially kicked off with Red Bull’ Max Verstappen clinching onto a eventful Grand Prix last weekend in Barcelona beating McLaren’s Lando Norris.
We now head to Spielberg, Austria otherwise known as the Red Bull Ring, home to many Verstappen fans.
The circuit spans 4.318km and takes place over 71 laps with three DRS zones.
The track was built in 1969 as a replacement for the Zeltweg airfield circuit but it wasn’t until 1995 when Hermann Tilke turned the original Osterreichring into a shorter and more modern racing track.
Formula One arrived at the track in 1997 where Jacques Villeneuve won whilst Gerhard Berger announced his retirement from F1.
Fan favourite for this weekend, Verstappen sits top of the Driver’s Championship but Norris is fast approaching as he moved up to second place after his impressive drive this season, the only driver to score in every race with six podiums so far.
Mercedes’ also look to be a big challenge for the Red Bull after their challenging performance against the Ferrari’s especially with some great battles between Carlos Sainz and Lewis Hamilton going wheel-to-wheel on numerous occasions.
A successful race too, with no yellow or red flags and the safety car staying in the garage for the full race as we finished with a full grid of drivers.
This weekend will consist of a sprint qualifying on Friday afternoon with the sprint race on Saturday at mid-day.
